Silhouette has not yet come out with a tool specifically for etching at the time of this post. However, Silhouette America is marketing the Stippling Tool as the Curio Stippling/Engraving Tool on their website. This post will compare Silhouette's Stippling tool with popular The Etching Tool that is being sold on Amazon (sometimes referred to as the Chomas Tool.)

In all of my test cuts, the surface of the engraved metal came out scratchy and rough. While it gets the job done, I would not recommend the Stippling Tool for engraving.
The Engraving Tool can be used with all the Silhouette cutters, including the Cameo and the Curio. It has a hard thick, carbide tip and is encased in an aluminum housing. In all of my tests the engraved surface came out very smooth and professional. I highly recommend it if you are wanting to using your Silhouette machine for engraving.
